Mini-conference - 16 Feb. 2017

Tthe Women in Chemistry Mini-Confererence will take pace on the 16th Feb. 2017 at Shenkar Physics104.

Ever been to a seminar and had a question you wanted to ask and didn't dare? Ever stopped yourself in class from stepping in to a discussion because you were afraid you'd mess up? Terrified of giving a talk because of the questions you might get at the end?

We'd like to help all of you to get used to taking the floor and owning it(!), in a safe and helpful environment.

This will be a day for the graduate students among us to give a talk about their research to a supportive and inclusive audience; and even more importantly, an opportunity for all female students to ask questions like you would in a seminar (without the male students and faculty taking over the questions section), whilst getting to know the research fields your fellow female students are engaging in.

The highlight of the day will be a panel of women in academia, there to discuss the hardship as well as the rewards of choosing to pursue a career in academia. They will tell you all about how they got to where they are and will answer all of your questions about what it's like to be a faculty member.

If you're a graduate student who is interested in giving a talk, please write us at: womeninchemtau@gmail.com  we'd be delighted to hear you!
